Where to see them 
These photos were taken in Northants, on the west coast of Ireland and in Las Alpujarras, Spain. They are a common bird of open country throughout mid and southern Europe, regularly perching on the tops of posts and bushes 
 
When to see them 
All year, as they are primarily resident although there may be some short-range migration in severe weather. 
 
What they eat 
Invertebrates, seeds and fruit - but mostly insects.
