Nuthatch, Eurasian (Sitta europaea)
Where to see them
Associated with woodland but are also frequent garden visitors. They are easily recognised by their raucous call and their head down approach to circumnavigating their world. These photos were taken in various locations in the UK. Nuthatches are widespread in Europe.
When to see them
Resident. Easier to see in the spring when they can be heard regularly and when the trees are still bare.
What they eat
Insects, seeds and nuts.
